When you search the internet for best php framework, and stumble on articles like this: PHP Framework Comparison 2018: CodeIgniter vs Laravel vs Yii vs CakePHP, you are tempted to just dive right in with Laravel, because it's in "vogue", and reportedly offers the most job availability.
But, if you are like me, then, you would above all, worry about the performance of your app, as well as how much resources it consumes, rather than the face value or fashion. Well, as far as performance is concerned, here's a shocker: Laravel Sucks!
Well, I don't expect you to take just my word for it: Will Bowman seems to agree with me in this article where he shared this image below depicting A simple performance comparison of 6 PHP MVC style frameworks using PHP 7.1.
This is the reason I refused learning any form of framework at all. Yes it eases your job, and the code is friendlier to work with, but at the expense of what?
The numbers in the image above speaks volume. So, better stick with your "pure" no-framework PHP coding. Your clients will be the happier for it.
You can borrow some ideas from existing frameworks, and use pure PHP to create amazing apps.
